Regional Governance Committee Website Online
The committee that’s studying valley-wide governance issues for the Okanagan and
Similkameen now has an online presence on the World Wide Web.
www.valleygovern.ca is
now available for public access. Visitors will find some background into the
committee and its work, information on upcoming meetings, access to meeting
agenda and reports and are able to email their comments and thoughts about
valley-wide governance.
Robert Hobson, chairs the 12-member working committee looking at regional
governance options for the Okanagan-Similkameen, North Okanagan and Central
Okanagan Regional Districts. He says, “Having a website is a great opportunity
for members of the public across the three regional districts to learn about
the committee and keep up on what it is working on. We’re enthusiastic to hear
from people and their vision regarding regional governance. Because of the
immense size of the area involved and the tight time frame facing the committee
and its work, we encourage people to visit the website, put their thoughts
about valley-wide governance down on the Contact form and we’ll take those
ideas into consideration.” The site was designed by OK Computer Solutions.
The committee is looking at areas of common interest across the three regional
districts such as air quality, transportation, water and possible governance
model options.
Between now and the end of February, the consultants working with the Working
Committee plan to meet with each Regional District board and member
municipalities to update them on the work and invite their input.”
A final report from the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Governance Study Working
Committee is expected to be ready for the Minister of Community Services by the
end of March 2008.
